Lifeline implemented an Interactive Community Drama Theater and Radio through support from the IOM/Daryeel program. participatory theater involving the communities in Marka surrounding areas ( Buufow and Janaale ) which aimed to increase dialogue between community members and government officials about sensitive and critical community concerns that affect the communities along the road. The events were held in public areas where Lifeline set up a temporary stage or used a vehicle fitted with audio equipment. This was organized so as to attract the public to participate in the project activities. The actors/actresses had an opportunity to engage with the audience directly. Lifeline used creative public performances in a concert style format inclusive of; plays, dramas, songs, poems, music etc. In addition, Lifeline produced and aired 5 radio dramas from the interactive theater, 5 radio Vox Pops and 5 Public Service Announcements (PSAs) with participants drawn from youth, women, regional and local administration officials from Buufow and Janaale. We also produced a 2-min documentary on the theater. This program has taught us that discussing sensitive matters among and between community and administration is viable if the right medium and approach is used.
