In 2017, with support from the Somalia Stabilization Initiative (SSI)/International Organization for Migration (IOM) under (contract agreement BAI06), Lifeline engaged local administration in South-West regions of Lower Shabelle, Bay and Bakool through training and workshops to better provide service delivery. This has revolved around peace, security and reconciliation of community groups ensuring there is representation of clans, minorities, women and youth. This is similar to our change agents approach that we conducted in Xudur (see above). Through our capacity building sessions, we have learnt that giving people skills and creating awareness contribute to better collaboration between communities and local administrations. As a result of our interventions, we have seen broader community involvement and collaboration resulting in improved safety and security.
